Balrothery is a pretty village located south of Balbriggan. Tradition has it that Balrothery derives its name from Baile na Ridre or ‘Town of the Knight’ but a more recent deliberation argues that the name originated from a person named Rytherid, a son of a 12th century landowner.
Balrothery Church is a dominant feature of the village. It now houses Balrothery Heritage Centre. The western tower dates to the fifteenth century. It was a later addition to the original Anglo-Norman settlement on this site.
Balrothery Inn is a traditional pub and restaurant, popular with locals and tourists alike.
